Charities, ministries still in need of donations for families this Christmas

News

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Right now, it’s the season of giving with less than two weeks to go until Christmas Day. Many families are reaching out to organizations to help them give their children a Christmas to remember and one group is hoping you’ll help with those last-minute needs!

Greater Birmingham Ministries is looking to reach more than 200 families in need this holiday season. Sarah Price says they’ve already put together bags of toys and more for 100 families and they’re getting ready to start bagging items for the next 104 families.

Price says they’ve taken care of most of the needs for girls in the target age group but still need toys for boys. Greater Birmingham Ministries focuses on children ages four to 12 years old and now they’re looking for toys for boys, especially 10 to 12 year olds. Ideal toys to look for include footballs, handheld games, trucks and cars.

Greater Birmingham Ministries will start distributing toys on Monday, December 17th through Friday, December 21st. Toys will be accepted through the 21st so there’s still plenty of time to help.

Greater Birmingham Ministries helps families with clothing and food needs as well. The facility is located at 2304 12th Avenue North in Birmingham. You can reach them at (205)326-6821 or visit their website here and Facebook page here
