CDC reports increase in flu cases

U.S. (WIAT) — The CDC is keeping a close watch on the flu this season.

It expects to see an increase in the number of cases in the coming weeks. The director of the CDC says he fears the flu could become a pandemic like the 1918 Spanish flu, which killed as many as 50 million people worldwide.

“We lost — more children last year from flu deaths than any year before, since we started recording the majority of those children that died were not vaccinated,” CDC Director Robert Redfield said.

President Trump has mentioned it twice in conversation with Bill Gates that he was thinking about a task force to look into vaccines, and whether there was a downside to them or whether they caused any illnesses.
