CALHOUN COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — Four people are in jail after law enforcement shut down a ring of criminals that they claim made a profession out of robbing and breaking into Calhoun and Etowah County businesses.

Police say the ring leader William Robinson committed the most robberies and burglaries, with seven and five respectively.

Authorities also say that Keith Smith, Precious Kidd, and a juvenile were involved in some of the robberies and burglaries. During the robberies the suspects were reportedly armed.

“The way they came in and committed these crimes was so brazen,” said Doug Jordan with the Attalla Police Department.

No one was physically hurt during the robberies, but businesses like TG’s Bait Shop in Alexandria, which was broken into in September, definitely felt the effects of their crimes. Cashier Leah Whitley say they broke the window to get in.

“It’s annoying someone can’t take the time to go out and work hard for their money the way should,” Whitley said.

The thieves took cigarettes and dip. The owner says she’s out a thousand dollars it cost to fix the broken window.

Robinson was arrested on Tuesday at the Glen Addie public housing complex where he was living

The three others were also arrested that same day.
