CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — UPDATE: The body recovered down the river from Leesburg Landing has been positively identified by the coroner as Bobby Shore, the missing Dec. 13 crash victim.
Shore’s family members, like his daughter Alexis, have spent the days since Dec. 13 missing their loved one.
“There’s a lot more peace than sadness,” Alexis said. “It’s better to know where he’s at than have to wonder if he’s out there or where he’s at. If he’s cold, if he’s in trouble, if he’s in danger, it’s better to know that everything came together, that we know more about it.”
As the family members gathered to receive the news, they made an effort to remember how Shore lived, not how he died.
“He was an amazing person and if you did get to meet him, it was a privilege,” Alexis said. “He wasn’t just a victim of an accident, but he put us kids first before anything, and that’s what I want them to know, is he cared about his kids a lot.”

Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver says a body was found Wednesday around 2 p.m. downstream from the landing. The coroner and local police officers are on the scene.
Shaver says there’s no estimate of how long a positive identification will take after the body is recovered. CBS42 will update this story as it develops.
