BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The City of Birmingham Mayor’s Office Division of Youth Services is getting ready for a big event that you’re invited to for free! This year’s Take a Child to the Doctor Day event is set for Saturday, September 8th.
The event is designed to serve uninsured and underinsured youth up to 18 years old in the area. Youth, accompanied by a parent or legal guardian can receive general health, vision and dental screenings, courtesy of the medical staff from Children’s of Alabama, UAB Health System – Department of Pediatrics and Focus First.
Free booster seats will also be available at the event. Safe Kids Alabama and Children’s of Alabama will give the seats to children between 40 and 100 pounds. Your child must be present for a fitting to secure your booster seat.
Take a Child to the Doctor Day also features fun and interactive games, free healthy snacks and beverages, and an outdoor play yard. There will also be Zumba and home fitness ideas as well as a special prize for the first 100 youth.
This year’s event will be held at the YMCA Youth Center on 7th Avenue North in downtown Birmingham. It’s happening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on September 8th and will be hosted by comedian and radio personality Funny Maine. For more information, call (205)320-0879 or click here.
