BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — People who live in the city of Birmingham will have a chance to weigh in on Mayor Randall Woodfin’s proposed budget.
There’s a public hearing scheduled for Monday.
This is Woodfin’s first budget and it happens to be $8 million larger than the current budget.
The proposed $436 million budget includes a number of initiatives to push neighborhood revitalization along with cutting 133 vacant jobs, saving the city millions of dollars.
Also included in the proposed budget, funding for the BJCC expansion project, which includes a $3 million dollar commitment over the next 30 years.
That expansion covers the controversial downtown stadium project.
If you’d like to chime in on the discussion surrounding the 2019 budget, the public hearing is at city hall at 5:30 p.m. in council chambers.
