Birmingham police need public’s help solving Wylam homicide investigation

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — UPDATE: The Jefferson County Coroner’s office has identified the victim as 46-year-old Jerry B. Robinson Jr. of Birmingham. Robinson lived near where the incident occurred. He was found outside of a home at that address.

Detectives have not established a clear motive in this homicide. There are no suspects in custody.

Original Story: The Birmingham Police Department responded to a call on the 600 block of the Gulfport Street after there were reports of shots fired in the area. When officers, arrived they found a victim unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue and the Jefferson County Coroner reported to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased as a result of their injuries.

The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time until next of kin have been contacted.

At this time there is not a clear motive in this homicide. There are no suspects in custody.
