BIRMINGHAM, Ala (WIAT) — Grocery delivery services have become popular, but now you can get fresh, organic produce delivered to your door.
The company is called Till and it was started by a local Birmingham couple, Hayley and Will Deshazo.
The company brings local farmers at the fingertips to customers, and then once a week, they are in their hands.
“We allow Till members to pick and choose their produce from different farms,“ Hayley Deshazo said. “They add it to your till bag, and then we deliver that bag to them once a week.“
Alabama-grown vegetables and fruits can be at anyone’s home locally without going to the store. It’s the new way of going to the Farmers Market.
Deshazo, the co-owner of Till, said this company is more than just providing fresh produce.
“What we do is every order over $35, we donate a meal to a local food bank, and we’re going to make sure we give back and help with those food deserts,“ Deshazo said. “We also have a meeting set up with the Mayor to see what we can do to deliver to some homes in those food desert areas.“
She said they already have more than 1,000 subscribers.
“Being able to support local farmers and a new start-up in Birmingham is something I want to do and keep my money where I can see growth in my own city,“ Amanda Ford, a Till customer, said.
Deshazo said they are taking more farmers and those who want to get on board with their dream. At this time, seven farmers are on board. The company delivers to nine zip codes in the Birmingham area.
“It’s crazy to see something you’re so passionate about and worked really hard on come to life,“ Deshazo said.
The company launched on Thursday and will open Sunday, March 31.
