News

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Birmingham is looking forward to continuing the success from 2018.

The organization was able to match more than 1,200 kids with mentors. Thursday morning, one of those kids found his perfect match.

We met Zion in February of 2018. Then, he showed off his Frisbee skills and love for science and sports. Now, almost one year later after coming up short in search for a big brother, that all changed not long after our story aired. Zion was matched with Troxell.

“I want to have a big brother instead of a big sister so he can so he can tell me about, guide me through the stage of life and through the development to be a young man,” Zion said.

Zion’s mother says Troxell has helped him maintain a positive attitude. In fact, she calls them, a perfect match.

There are still 93 kids waiting to be matched through big brothers big sisters.
