AUBURN, Ala. (WIAT) — After 117 straight victories, the Alabama gymnastics team fell to Auburn for the first time since 1979 by a score of 197.275-197.250.
The meet came down to the final floor routine by Auburn’s Caitlin Atkinson who had to have a 9.925 or better to give the Tigers the victory. Atkinson got a 9.925.
Auburn led after the first rotation, 49.275-49.225, but the Crimson Tide took the lead after the second and third rotations despite a season best performance from the Tigers on the beam.
Atkinson completed a big night for the Tigers by winning the All-Around title with a 39.65.
