Arrest made in armed robbery on UAB campus

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Update (4:28 p.m.): An arrest has been made in a nonrandom armed robbery reported on the UAB campus Wednesday afternoon. UAB Police have not identified the suspect due to student privacy laws and the ongoing investigation.

Original: Police at the University of Alabama at Birmingham are investigating an armed robbery reported on campus outside of Rast Hall. 

Around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, the suspect robbed a student of their personal belongings before fleeing the scene in a four-door Acura sedan, school officials said. The car is described as either light blue or silver. 

The student received minor injuries from the robbery, but nothing life-threatening. The campus was on a brief lockdown before opening up after the suspect fled the area.
