Alabama Crimson Tide Softball preps for big series against Florida Gators

TUSCALOOSA, Ala (Alabama Athletics/WIAT) — Alabama is 42-4 overall and 11-4 in SEC play, currently at the top of the league standings with three weeks of conference play remaining. Last weekend, the Crimson Tide swept Georgia over three games in Tuscaloosa, its first sweep over the Bulldogs since 2011. Alabama held Georgia to one run on Saturday, its lowest run total of the season until the Tide shut out the Bulldogs the very next day. Alabama completed the sweep with a 4-3 victory on Monday, courtesy of a walk-off RBI single from sophomore Kaylee Tow. For her efforts over the weekend, junior Sarah Cornell was named the SEC Pitcher of the Week.

This week, Alabama heads to Gainesville, Fla., for a three-game series against the Florida Gators (36-9, 9-6 SEC), beginning with a doubleheader Friday, April 19 at 4:30 p.m. CT. Game one of the doubleheader will air live on ESPN2. The series concludes Saturday, April 20 at 1 p.m. CT live on ESPN.

Coach Murphy says, “It’s a big series with Florida as it always is; we respect the heck out of them, they play the game the right way and it is always fun to compete against a team that does that.”

Outfielder KB Sides loves the team chemistry and she knew from the fall that this team was special. We have interviews posted with Coach Murhphy and Sides.
