$60,000 bond for robbery assault arrest in Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) – A 29-year-old Tuscaloosa man is behind bars on a $60,000 bond following a business robbery earlier this week in the 2500 block of Paul Bryant Drive.

Tuscaloosa Police say on March 11, Derrell Prewitt entered the business wearing an orange ski mask with a gun in hand.Prewitt took an undisclosed amount of money and assaulted an employee in the process, Tuscaloosa Police said.

The following day, investigators handling the case were led to the residence of Prewitt and were able to make an arrest in the 2600 block of 21st St.

Prewitt is in the Tuscaloosa County Jail and has been charged with Robbery First Degree and Assault Second Degree.
