4 year old injured by stray bullet during drive-by shooting in Bessemer

BESSEMER, Ala. (WIAT) — Bessemer police are investigating a drive-by shooting that left a child injured.

Around 12 p.m., police were dispatched to the 200 block of Center Street on a call of a drive-by shooting. Once they arrived, they discovered a 4-year-old girl with a bullet wound to the foot, Chief Mike Roper said. Police say she was sitting on the porch of the home when the shooting happened.

She was taken to the hospital for treatment with non-life threatening injuries.

At this time, police are still searching for a suspect.
