3 year old dies after found floating in Jefferson County swimming pool

GRAYSVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) — UPDATE: According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, the child who was found unresponsive in a pool has been identified as Julian Avilez. Avilez lived at a residence on the 600 block of Sayre Mine Road in Graysville. He was found in his home’s pool.

Original Story: On Tuesday, Aug. 13, Family members reported finding a three-year-old boy floating in a swimming pool and unresponsive. The incident took place on the 600 block of Sayre Mine road in Graysville. Jefferson Couty Sherriff’s Deputies and Bagley Fire and Rescue responded to the call at 5:52 p.m.

The father of the boy attempted CPR on the child until medical personnel arrived at the scene. The child was transported to Children’s Hospital but later died.

There are no signs of foul play. The Department of Human Resources came to the scene to check the welfare of the other children at the location.
