CENTER POINT, Ala. (WIAT) — Two males were arrested by Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies after robbing two women by gunpoint. The incident took place Sunday, August 11 at 4:54 a.m. on the 2300 block of Rain Tree Court in Center Point.
The robbery suspects pointed a gun at the two women that were leaving their vehicle and took their personal items along with their car. Deputies issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) alert.
Later that day at 12:52 p.m., deputies spotted the stolen vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop. The driver refused to stop and attempted to get away.
There was a pursuit until two of the three occupants bailed out of the car while it was still in motion on the 200 block of Maple Way.
Deputies were able to take the two robbers into custody. Deputies arrested 22-year-old Justin Malik Carter and a 15-year-old juvenile. Carter is being held at the Jefferson County Jail on charges of leaving the scene, reckless endangerment, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and first-degree robbery. He is being held on a $52,300 bond.
Sheriff’s detectives are expected to make more arrests in this case.
