11 UAB players sign as free agents following the NFL Draft

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The UAB Blazers had 11 players sign as free agents for various NFL teams following the draft on Saturday.

The senior football players helped lead the Blazers to the program’s first-ever Conference USA title. UAB would then go on to win its first bowl game in school history with a 37-13 victory over Northern Illinois in the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl. 

These are the UAB players headed to the NFL:

Xavier Ubosi – New England Patriots
Jamell Garcia-Williams – San Francisco 49ers 
Anthony Rush – Philadelphia Eagles
Tre’ Crawford – Atlanta Falcons
Andre Wilson – Detroit Lions
Broderick Thomas – Kansas City Chiefs
Mar’Sean Diggs – Minnesota Vikings
Rishard Cook – Indianapolis Colts
James Davis – Los Angeles Rams
Justice Powers – Atlanta Falcons
Logan Scott – Atlanta Falcons 

The 11 Blazers who signed free agent deals this year will join a group of six previous UAB players who are currently in the NFL.
