Multiple people injured, 1 missing in Smith Lake boat crash

CRANE HILL, Ala. (WIAT) — Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Marine Patrol is searching for a missing boater after a crash on Smith Lake Thursday night.

According to ALEA Patrol Commander, Captain Gary Buchanan, there were 5 people injured and of those 5, 4 of them were transported for medical attention.

Buchanana said the accident involved two boats on Smith Lake in Rock Creek around 10:00 pm Thursday.

Buchanan said the search was suspended around 1:00 am and will resume this morning with the help of multiple agencies.

It’s unclear the cause of the collision.
