Shelby County, Ala.- Oak Mountain Mission Ministries is preparing for the 13th annual Harvest of Hope Luncheon. It will be held Tuesday, September 10 at The Club. A silent auction will begin at 10 a.m. and the luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m.
Oak Mountain Ministries is a 50(c) nonprofit organization that serves the poor in Shelby and Jefferson Counties. In 2018, Oak Mountain Mission provides varying forms of assistance to families thousands of times. Families are referred to the mission from domestic violence and homeless shelters, faith support churches and social services agencies.
Each year, the Harvest of Hope Luncheon features a speaker. This year’s keynote speaker will be Mayor Ashley Curry of Vestavia Hills. Organizers say Mayor Curry’s commitment to service extends beyond his role in government. In 2019, Curry started a car ministry to help families in need of reliable transportation. Since its inception, the Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church Car Ministry, founded by Mr. Curry, has helped hundreds of families secure or repair automobiles and in so doing provide transportation to work and school and a path out of poverty.
