Tuscaloosa inmate escapes ALEA trooper, schools placed on high alert

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — DCH Regional Medical Center confirms that an inmate escaped the custody fo an Alabama Law Enforcement Agency state trooper Wednesday morning.

The escape occurred while in the emergency department of DCH just before 11 a.m.

As a result of the escape, four schools were placed on high alert.

DCH reports that no injuries were reported. No information has been released on whether the inmate has been recaptured.
