TALLADEGA, Ala. (WIAT) — The Lincoln Police Department has released new information regarding the off-duty officer-involved shooting Tuesday afternoon.

According to LPD, the off-duty officer was involved in a Facebook Marketplace transaction. The officer was then shot in the arm and was taken to a local hospital by a responding Talladega police officer.

LPD is trying to stop false rumors from spreading. According to authorities, officers and their families have received death threats since the shooting a day ago.

The shooting resulted in the death of 19-year-old Javon Ousley near the Knoxville Homes area.

LPD also wants to end the rumors that a female officer or informant was involved and no undercover officer was involved.
