DORA, Ala. (WIAT) — A Walker County teacher has an extra $1,000 to spend thanks to the CBS 42 One Class at a Time grant.
Rebekah Harris is a gifted education teacher at Bagley Elementary. Her students could become future scientists, engineers, or writers. They are part of the talented and gifted program at Bagley Elementary School — a class that includes diverse and advanced lessons.
Harris says she loves working with this bright, young group of students.
“I’m able to take them deeper and farther into the things that we study. // They challenge me and I challenge them and so I really enjoy it,” Harris said.
The challenge now is to keep these young minds growing, so with the help of eCO Credit Union, CBS 42 presented Ms. Harris with a $1,000 grant that she plans to spend on a text-based coding program.
“The text based coding will allow them to write code. // for many of the jobs that these kids may have in the future that we may not even know yet…they may need to know how to code to do that,” Harris said.
This grant is brought to you by eCO Credit Union for CBS 42’s One Class at a Time. If you are a teacher who would like to apply for a grant, follow this link to apply.
