Jacksonville State Men’s Basketball returns home

(WIAT) — For the first time since a tornado tore apart the campus of Jacksonville State University, the Gamecock Men’s Basketball team returned to campus, and saw the damage for themselves.

“It’s sad, it’s devestating.” Said JSU Senior Norbertas Giga “For me I’ve never something like this so I don’t even know how to react right now.”

The Gamecock basketball program was one of the hardest hit after Monday’s storms.  The Pete Matthews Coliseum, which is the home floor for the Gamecocks, saw extensive damage including pieces of the roof torn off.

“It happened at kind of a good time.” Said Giga “the season is over basically we’re just going to have to take some time off to get our bodies for a little bit then we’ll go from there.”
