MONTEVALLO, Ala. (WIAT) — If you’re looking for the perfect way to kick off the Christmas season, come to the American Village for the Colonial Christmas Lunch and Tour. It’s the perfect time for you, your family, or any groups to start off the Christmas season.
Mrs. Martha Washington herself will be your host.
“The 12th day of Christmas also happens to be my wedding anniversary with Mr. George Washington. And every year we have a grand ball to celebrate this event,” Martha said.
Melanie Poole says that The American Village annual Colonial Christmas Lunch and Tour runs Tuesday through Friday, December 6, 7, 8, and 9.
“We have two sessions. You can tour at 10:30 and have lunch at noon. Or you can start with lunch at noon, and tour until 2:30. Tickets are just $25 dollars each,” said Poole.
The tour includes about five different vignettes including a Christmas concert in the chapel.
“We have very talented historical interpreters that also play guitar and sing. You’ll go to the barn where you’ll get to hear from Colonial soldiers during Valley Forge. It was a very hard, cold winter and they will talk about Christmas away from home in very hard circumstances, but how they keep their spirits up,” said Poole.
“Well, of course, anyone that wants to come is welcome. My friends and family will be in attendance and I invite you and all of your friends and family to come celebrate with us as well,” Martha Washington said.
