BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Offering the highest quality amenities for special events, corporate functions, meetings & seminars, and even weddings, The Harbert Center stands as downtown Birmingham’s premiere event venue.
When the Birmingham Education Foundation needed a place to host their annual career development conference, they did not have to look far. Located on 2019 Fourth Avenue North, The Harbert Center is a “gem right around the corner,” said J.W. Carpenter.
The Harbert Center offers professional service, great food, and their event space that can accommodate groups of any size.
“This is our fourth year working with The Harbert Center. Everyone loves it. Everyone feels welcome. It doesn’t matter what your event is, it’s going to go well, and they’re going to make it run well. I mean, it’s a terrific venue,” Carpenter said.
Ken Jackson is very involved in the community. As a Rotarian, Jackson frequently attends lunch meetings at the venue.
“I’ve attended meetings here that had 20-to-25 people for lunch. And I’ve attended functions here that had over 400 people for dining and recognitions and other activities. Regardless, the staff handles each event like it is their only event,” Jackson said.
Both Carpenter and Jackson appreciate the quality and variety of the food.
“Dining here every week, you would think that you might get tired of the food! I look forward to their fried catfish, and I look forward to certain items that appear on the menu. It’s never boring, it’s always good,” said Jackson.
Producing excellence since 1986, Carpenter says the center strikes a delicate balance.
“They have to be bulldogs about the detail. They’ve got a lot of moving parts; tables, rooms, food, a lot of different groups moving in and out. But you never see them sweat. They’ve got smiles on their faces. They’re making you feel like you’re a part of this institution and part of the team. I mean, it’s why they’re our choice to hold our conferences every year.”
