(CBS 42 Living Local) – This week we are sharing our final Team Creekmore update before we find out which team will take home the $10,000 grand prize. No matter who wins, Team Creekmore says they are thankful for the new habits they have formed as a couple during their eCO Savings Race journey.
“It’s the communication part that I think we’re going to benefit from the most,” Jamie said.
“I may have one idea about spending versus saving. And if I go full force with that idea, but my spouse has a different idea about it, and we’re not communicating clearly about that, then neither of us is going to meet our goals,” said Carol.
Reaching those goals comes from good budgeting. The Creekmores said that following the budget is more than just adding income and subtracting expenses.
“I know the math. I think it’s just a matter of the self-discipline to do what I need to do with the math,” Jamie.
“I think one of the big things about the race is the fact that it’s several months long. It gives you time to really get disciplined. It provides time for those communications to settle and take place. So I don’t think we’re going to have any trouble continuing on after the race is over because we are a lot happier now,” Carol
eCO Takeaway Tip
One of the biggest keys to reaching your financial goals is discipline. You can create a great budget every month, but if you don’t stick to it and track it, it won’t help your financial situation improve. Start by consciously saying no to items that are not in your budget, and you’ll quickly see your self-discipline improve and your budget work for you.
Our grand finale is just one week away! Watch CBS 42 on May 7th at 6 p.m. We’ll announce our $10,000 grand prize winner of the sixth and final edition of the eCO Savings Race.
