Robert Sherman joined the CBS 42 team in June of 2018. Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, Robert is beyond excited to call Birmingham, Alabama his new home (and he’s also excited to escape Lake Erie’s dreadful winters!).
Robert attended DePauw University in Indiana, where he graduated Cum Laude with a B.A. in communication and a minor in economics. Robert got his TV start in sports, doing play-by-play broadcasting in Wisconsin for the Kenosha Kingfish: a semi-pro baseball team in the Northwoods League.
After spending two years in Wisconsin, Robert wanted to give news a try, and he fell in love with it. He interned for KPRC in Houston, Texas where he was able to assist with election coverage at the local and national level. Additionally, he was able to help cover stories like the disappearance of Rep. John Conyers’ son, a campus-shooting hoax at a local college, and an investigative piece on the dangers of proposition betting.
Robert also has an interest in business news, and that interest was confirmed when he spent a summer in New York working for CNBC on the show “Mad Money with Jim Cramer.” Politics is Robert’s first love, however, and he hopes to get involved with Alabama’s biggest political stories while at CBS 42.
In his spare time, Robert can be found playing golf, reading the Wall Street Journal, and rooting for all Cleveland sports team (yes, including the Browns).
