Malique Rankin joined the CBS 42 team in May 2019. She is a news reporter who loves to cover hard-hitting stories that impact Central Alabama. Malique realized her love for journalism as a high schooler. Her favorite part about reporting is giving a voice to the most unlikely characters.
Malique was born in Boca Raton, Florida and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism with a Spanish minor in just three years from the University of South Carolina. Malique also speaks Portuguese and loves any opportunity to use her language skills on and off the job. Her long term career goals are to have a job where she can use her language skills to break down barriers with the stories she tells.
Before Malique joined CBS 42, she spent nearly three years reporting, anchoring and producing in Bismarck, North Dakota. Malique gravitates towards the political world when pitching her stories and is interested in showing how Alabama lawmakers in Montgomery impact communities across Central Alabama and Birmingham.
