Jeff Sanders

Jeff Sanders joined the CBS 42 news team in November of 2020 as the state capitol reporter.  As part of the Nexstar Media Group, his reports air on five different TV stations across the state.

Before coming to CBS 42, Jeff was the Assistant News Director and news anchor at Alabama News Network in Montgomery for 14 years.  However, early in his career Jeff was the Chief Weather Anchor at WTVY-TV in Dothan.

Jeff was born in Lakeland, Florida but his family’s roots are tied to Alabama.  He attended Troy University where he studied broadcast journalism and history.  As a history buff, Jeff says he’s always good for nuggets of knowledge. It was his inquisitive mind that attracted Jeff to a career in journalism.

Jeff hopes to take the often-complicated world of politics in the state capitol and make it understandable to the viewer.  He wants to show another side to the state’s political leaders that helps you understand the as people.

Jeff has been very active in his community.  He’s volunteered for the Salvation Army and raised money for breast cancer research.

Jeff’s other passion includes spending time with his family.  Plus, enjoying summers on Lake Martin and hiking the trails surrounding this wonder of Alabama.
