Carly Laing

Carly Laing joins our team as the 4 p.m. anchor and reporter. She is an Alabama girl and is thrilled to be coming back home.

Carly started her career in 2015 in Lafayette, Louisiana at our sister station KLFY News 10. She reported on a wide range of national news stories including the Grand Theatre shooting, the ambush shooting of Baton Rouge Police Officers and the 2016 floods. She then moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to our sister station WVLA NBC Local 33 News as the Morning Anchor and was promoted to Main Anchor in 2019. During her time in Baton Rouge, she covered Hurricanes Laura, Delta and Ida, numerous elections, festivals and Mardi Gras. She is most proud of her Louisiana Women segment that highlights local women and encourages women empowerment.

Carly is also very passionate about educating the next generation of journalists. In 2020 she joined the staff at LSU as an adjunct professor teaching Intro to Journalism and News Gathering. While she grew up rooting for The Crimson Tide, she has grown to love LSU and its students…GEAUX Tigers!

While she loves the Louisiana culture and cuisine, there truly is no place like home. Carly is excited to get back to her roots and connect with the community that helped shape who she is today.

Carly grew up in Cordova, AL. She attended the University of Montevallo where she was a cheerleader. She got her start working cameras for the University’s newscast Falcon Weekly and was a panelist for MomentUM, a campus lifestyle show.

In her spare time Carly enjoys exploring new cities and trying new restaurants. She also enjoys playing beach volleyball, working out and spending time outdoors with her dog Lola.
