Alissa Rothermich is an Emmy-nominated anchor and reporter who couldn’t be happier to call Birmingham her forever home. She joined Art Franklin on the CBS 42 Morning News desk in September 2019.
Before joining WIAT, Alissa worked as the evening co-anchor at KMOV in St. Louis. During her time there, she and the News 4 team provided in depth, on-the-ground coverage of the historic shooting death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and the riots that followed. Being a St. Louis native, that story, and the state of the city while it unfolded, was personal for her. She hosted several town hall discussions in the aftermath of that case, in a station-wide effort to continue the conversation within the community.
Alissa’s TV news career has also included stops at KLFY in Lafayette, Louisiana, and WINK-TV in Fort Myers, Florida. She is an alumna of Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
She and her husband, Dr. Marc Rothermich, lived in Birmingham for his fellowship training at Andrews Sports Medicine and realized very quickly that it was where they wanted to plant roots and raise their family. In their spare time, they love to hike, stay up far too late binge watching Netflix shows and channel their inner Chip and Joanna Gaines through (very) small home projects. They have two children, Benjamin and Cozzella.
Alissa looks forward to getting involved in as many worthy causes in the Birmingham community as possible. She has a special place in her heart for helping those with developmental disabilities, as her sister, Jenna, has cerebral palsy.
