Nate joined the Storm Track Weather Team in June of 2015 and is thrilled to call Central Alabama home. A Plant City, Florida native, Nate always wanted to be a meteorologist and pursued that dream at the Florida State University. He received his degree in Meteorology in 2006, and since then, he’s been all over the country.
His first stop was in Minnesota, where he saw snow for the first time and picked up some valuable winter weather experience, covering one of the snowiest stretches in the Upper Midwest from 2007-2008. He then headed back down south, working in Tallahassee, FL covering severe weather outbreaks in South Georgia and North Florida, and devastating tropical weather, including the terrible flooding from Tropical Storm Debby in 2012. Southeast Alabama was his next stop, working in the Wiregrass region in Dothan, where he lead his weather team covering numerous severe weather outbreaks and the Ice Storm of 2014. Now he brings his experience to WIAT.
Nate is a member of the American Meteorological Society and received his Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal from the AMS.
Outside of work, Nate is a big foodie, and is itching to try all of the local restaurants that Birmingham is known for. And to support this eating habit, he goes to the CrossFit box to workout 4-5 days a week. He’s also a big sports fan, rooting for his alma mater, Florida State (GO NOLES!) and is also a Tampa Bay sports fan, supporting the Bucs, Rays, and Lightning.
