Birmingham, AL-Southern junior Zac Richards has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played Monday, Jan. 30, through Sunday, Feb. 5, the conference office announced today.
Richards, a foward from Hoover, Ala., helped lead 11th-ranked Birmingham-Southern to two more wins this week, scoring 15 points on Friday and 14 on Sunday, averaging 14.5 per game and shooting 10-of-11 (.909) from the field.
He pulled down 16 total rebounds, averaging 8.0 per game, and recorded four assists and three steals. Richards also shot 9-of-10 from the free throw line.
Against Millsaps on Friday, Richards shot 6-for-7 from the field while adding three assists. On Sunday against Rhodes he was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and added a steal and one assist.
Richards and the Panthers return home this weekend, facing Centre, Friday at 8 p.m., and Sewanee, Sunday at 3 p.m. in Bill Battle Coliseum.
