BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB quarterback Joe Webb has been named the Conference USA Offensive Player-of-the-Week following his record-setting day Saturday in the Blazers’ 31-21 win over Memphis.

The 6-4, 220-pound senior from Birmingham threw for a career-best 378 yards and three touchdowns as he connected on 72 percent (18x25) of his passes in the game.

Webb also rushed for 52 yards and one touchdown as he compiled a career-high 430 yards of total offense against the Tigers.

Webb ranks prominently in three different NCAA statistical categories: 12th in rushing (115.8 ypg), 10th in total offense (288.8) and 17th in passing efficiency (147.9).

In Saturday’s game at Memphis, Webb broke the UAB single-season record for rushing yards and now has 1,158.

In the past two games, Webb has thrown for 670 yards and seven touchdowns with no interceptions.

The C-USA Player-of-the-Week honor is the second Webb has been garnered this season. He was also tabbed the league’s Offensive Player-of-the-Week following the season-opening game vs. Rice when he threw for 221 yards, ran for 194 and accounted for four touchdowns.

Webb and his UAB teammates will travel to East Carolina this weekend to take on the C-USA East Division-leading Pirates.
The Blazers (5-5, 4-2 C-USA) are only a game behind ECU (6-4, 5-1 C-USA) in the conference standings.
