TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- The University of Alabama men’s basketball team controlled the paint and shot well from three-point range to defeat Jackson State 86-69 Tuesday night at Coleman Coliseum, giving head coach Anthony Grant his first victory with the Crimson Tide. Alabama scored 42 points in the paint compared to 18 for the Tigers, and made 7-of-17 three-pointers en route to the win.

Four Alabama players scored in double figures led by a pair of newcomers. Freshman Tony Mitchell and junior-college transfer Charvez Davis scored 23 and 16 points respectively.
