TUSCALOOSA, AL - Nick Saban isn't finished reeling in coaching awards. Although he would like them to be team awards. Four days after his team was defeated by Utah in the Sugar Bowl, Saban was awarded the FWAA/Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award.

"Nick Saban has proven to be a winner wherever he has gone," said 2008 FWAA president Ron Higgins. "He has re-established Alabama as a national power in quick fashion. He was an overwhelming choice by our members for this very prestigious award."

Saban also won the award in 2003 when he was the coach at LSU.

The Crimson Tide head coach led one of the biggest turnaround in Alabama's storied history; from 7-6 in 2007 to 12-2 in 2008. The Tide returned to national prominence by achieving the number one ranking in the AP, Coaches and BCS polls for 5 weeks during the regular season. It was the first time Alabama had been ranked number one during the regular season since 1980.

The Eddie Robinson Award is sponsored by the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and will be presented in conjunction with the BCS National Title game to be played January 8th at Dolphins Stadium in Miami, FL.

Saban has cleaned up in the off-season garnering the Home Depot National Coach of the Year Award, Associated Press Coach of the Year, Walter Camp Coach of the Year and the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award.
