HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT) - For the first time ever, the NCAA Men's College Cup - Soccer National Championship will be held in Alabama.  Hoover has been selected to host the 2011 Cup in December.

Not only is Alabama hosting the tournament for the first time, it's the first time it will be played in the deep south.

"We have a strong soccer community in the Hoover/Birmingham area, as well as the state of Alabama, and encourage fans to get their tickets early," said Mike Getman, head coach of the UAB Men's Soccer Team.

The upcoming tournament will be played December 9 and 11 at Regions Park in Hoover.

"The best soccer in the country will be displayed that weekend and we hope to have a great turnout," said Getman.
