Barons Will Have a New Home in 2013

Birmingham, AL (WIAT)-The Birmingham Barons have spent more than two decades at Region's Park in Hoover and in 2013 they will have a new place to call home.

Today Mayor William Bell threw out the first pitch of the Baron's official groundbreaking ceremony at the site of the new $64 million baseball park, Regions Field, next to Railroad Park.

Hundreds of people and fans joined team owner Don Logan and General Manager Jonathan Nelson in opening a new chapter for the minor league franchise in an effort to revitalize the city and bring baseball back to Birmingham.

Regions Park will continue to be a viable venue for use during high school and college sporting events.
