Nationals' Guzman to have shoulder scoped

Washington Nationals shortstop Cristian Guzman will have arthroscpic surgery on his right shoulder on Thursday at The Washington Hospital Center.

Guzman was bothered by shoulder problems for the final month of the season and was relegated to pinch-hitting duties because of his inability to play the field.

In 135 games for the Nationals this season, Guzman batted .284 with six home runs and 52 runs batted in.
