BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- The Birmingham Barons' nine-game winning streak came to an abrupt halt on Monday afternoon.
The Barons were tripped up by the Montgomery Biscuits, 2-1, in front of 3,004 fans at Regions Field.
Montgomery got on the board in the top of the fourth inning on RBI singles by Kyeong Kang and Riccio Torrez. Following the two runs, Barons starting pitcher Erik Johnson (2-2, 2.58 ERA) managed to navigate his way through the Biscuits' lineup with minimal problems.
He allowed just two runs on five hits and struck out eight batters over six innings pitched.
However, the Barons couldn't muster up much of a comeback effort, only tallying two hits off of Biscuits starter Matt Buschmann (5-1, 2.70 ERA).
Buschmann struck out seven batters over six innings pitched.
Keenyn Walker drove in the only run of the day for the Barons in the bottom of the eighth inning. Walker also increased his league-leading stolen bases total to 15 when he took second base off of Buschmann.
The Barons will be back in action at Regions Field on Tuesday evening.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT.
