AUBURN - The Auburn football team practiced for the 12th consecutive day Wednesday with a 70-minute workout on the intramural fields. The Tigers practiced through a dry afternoon under sunny skies. Earlier in the day, the squad conducted an 80-minute workout on the practice fields behind the AU Athletic Complex due to rainy weather conditions.
Wednesday’s practice also marked the third day of two-a-day practices. Auburn head football coach Tommy Tuberville noted the work of the younger players who were able to get more reps in during both practices.
“Today we worked a lot of younger guys,” Tuberville said. “Tomorrow will be more of a mental day than a physical day. We’ll have some walk throughs tomorrow and work on our kicking game. We’re making some progress. These younger guys are really pushing through it. The grind starts to get to them about this time, but we’re getting near the end of having them all day long. It’s been a good day and looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow.”
The Tigers spent the majority of the day’s second workout focusing on individual group work before breaking into team drills to close out the practice.
Auburn will practice once on Thursday on the intramural fields starting at 4:15 p.m. The final edition of two-a-days for the 2008 season will be held Friday.
Auburn's season opener is August 30 when the Tigers host Louisiana-Monroe at 6 p.m. at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Single-game tickets are available for the Louisiana-Monroe, Southern Miss, Arkansas and Tennessee-Martin home games. To purchase tickets visit www.auburntigers.com or call 800-AUB-1957.
