BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB unveiled its new Nike uniforms for the upcoming football season on Wednesday.

All Blazer athletic teams will be wearing Nike apparel and shoes beginning with the upcoming 2008-09 season.  This will be the first time that every UAB sport will be under the same shoe and apparel contract.

Previously, only the men¹s and women¹s soccer teams, as well as the men¹s basketball squad, were the only Blazer sports to sport Nike apparel and shoes.

³This is a great symbol of our growth to have Nike demonstrate their interest in making UAB one of their all-sports schools," said Athletics Director Brian Mackin.

The contract with Nike is a five-year deal which runs from June 1, 2008 to May 31, 2013.  The agreement has a value of $500,000.  The deal includes a set number of shoes, uniforms and apparel that will be provided to the Blazer teams.  In addition, lower purchase prices will be available on other merchandise items.
