WASHINGTON - Idea Village Products is recalling its Handy Switch Wireless Light Switches due to a fire hazard.

The company says the light switch receiver, which plugs into the wall outlet, can overheat and pose the fire hazard.

About 1.3 million switches are included in the recall.

The Handy Switch is a white plastic wireless remote light switch with model number KS-080 printed on the back of the receiver. On the front of the receiver is a blue electroluminescent nightlight.

The switches were sold at mass merchandisers and drug store chains nationwide as well as through television infomercials and the Internet.

Idea Village is urging consumers to unplug the product and contact the company to learn about free remedy options.
