White nationalist no longer set to speak at University of Alabama this week

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) - Students for America First, the student organization that invited a white nationalist to speak on the University of Alabama's campus this week, has lost it's registered status as an official student organization, according to the university.

Jared Taylor, the editor of American Renaissance magazine, was scheduled to speak on April 19.

According to Associate Vice President of Communications Monica Watts, the student group does not meet the registered student organization requirements. The organization was given the opportunity to comply with the requirements of registered organizations prior to having its registered status withdrawn, but was unable to do so. In losing its ability to host events as a student organization, Taylor's appearance was canceled.

If the status of the organization changes in the future, they will be given the opportunity to re-register, gaining the ability to host events and speakers on campus.
