When we're stressed about the economy, we all have our own ways of coping ; however, some are not so healthy. It appears that many consumers are making snack bars and drive thru windows their new best friend.
Business is going well for Dee's Dogs, and the owner can think of one reason why.
"My prices are cheap. Food's good. Everything else is so high you have to skip on something," says Dee Swehla.
That seems to be the case for many fast food venues. Psychologists say people are finding a comfort in eating unhealthy food during an unhealthy economy.
"They try to cope with that by grabbing candy bars or cookies, things that are going to give them a quick energy boost, but the long-term is problematic," says Dr. Rex Wright.
He adds that people who constantly indulge in those eating habits are catching a ride towards diabetes, hypertension, and other health problems.
