Police Identify Two People Shot Dead over the Weekend

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Birmingham and Midfield police have identified two people who were shot to death in separate homicides over the weekend.
The Jefferson County coroner's office said 20-year-old Jose Luis Gonzalez died Saturday in a Bessemer hospital from a gunshot wound. The victim was shot around noon in Midfield.
Midfield police said no arrests were made.
Deputy Coroner Chris Moore said a 41-year-old woman was shot to death early Sunday at a residence on Gallant Drive. The victim was identified as Caneshua Henry.
Officers with the East Precinct said a suspect was detained. It’s unclear if charges were filed.
