A scare at Hoover High School Tuesday morning when students and teachers reported mysterious fumes coming from a third floor restroom.

Police and firefighters rushed in and classrooms were put in what's called a yellow lock-down mode.  Investigators did find a plastic bottle in a men’s restroom containing acid.

Hoover City Schools Spokesman Jason Gaston said, "I think there might have been a slight noise with it, in addition to the fumes.  There was enough for people to notice, but luckily no one was hurt.  No students or teachers were hurt and it was small, but it was serious enough to put people into lock-down."

Gaston credits student’s good behavior during the incident for allowing firefighters and police to conduct their investigation.  Authorities add that this incident caused no threat to any of the faculty or students.
