The search is still ongoing for a capital murder suspect who escaped custody on his way to the Bessemer courthouse. Right now authorities are in Lipscomb combing the area.
Jefferson County officers say they found clothing and the car that Lakendall Sims is accused of taking Tuesday afternoon. They also believe he broke into a home.
Right now, by air and land Jefferson County Sheriff's department and other agencies are scouring the neighborhood around Avenue H, near Lipscomb City Hall into the Roosevelt City area looking for Sims. Part of the area has been blocked while K-9 units search the area. Police are urging residents to stay in their homes because Sims is believed to be armed and dangerous.
