Schmitz Case Jurors Report They are Deadlocked

Federal court jurors considering the fate of state Rep. Sue Schmitz have sent another note to the judge saying they are deadlocked.

U.S. District Judge David Proctor sent jurors home for the weekend Friday. He ordered them to return Monday, and said he would instruct them to keep working.

The jurors deliberated for the third day Friday in the north Alabama Democrat's fraud case. Proctor said he received a question Friday afternoon from jurors saying they were having trouble with deliberations. Jurors had sent the judge a similar note Thursday.

Schmitz is charged with using her political influence to obtain a job with a program that helps troubled teenagers and then rarely showing up for work.
