On August 28, 1963, the world witnessed Martin Luther King, Jr. deliver the now legendary "I Have A Dream" speech. Now, exactly 45 years later, America prepared to witness the realization of his vision come alive as Obama makes history being the first African American to receive a presidential nomination.

"It's obvious that this day has been in the mill for 45 years," says Dr. Horace Huntley with the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. He adds that King's dream was not specifically for Black people, but for the American people. "What Martin Luther King was suggesting was that we were in fact ill, and we must be healed. This is an indication that we may be moving toward a healing process."

Some civil rights activists say the fact that Obama makes history on the annniversary of King's world-renown speech was not by chance.

"It is divine. You can see the hand of god working in it. Look at the change of heart in the people of America," says Calvin Woods with the Birmingham Chapter of NAACP. He walked hand and hand with Dr. King, and describes Obama's accomplishments as echoes of the slain leader's footsteps.

"I think I can safely say that we can see a true mirror of the Preamble to the Constitution and this Nation shall have a new birth of freedom"
